Obituary for Betty L. Calloway McCall

Betty Louise (Calloway) McCall, age 74, died Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Ephraim McDowell Medical Center in Danville. Betty was born in Stanford, Kentucky on January 8, 1943, to the late Melvin and Ann (Shaw) Calloway. Her husband of 50 years, Jack McCall survives. Together they operated, owned and resided at Truview Farm in Stanford.

Betty attended Crab Orchard Elementary and was a 1961 graduate of Crab Orchard High School. She attended college in Lexington. Shortly afterwards she married and moved to West Chester Ohio and later to Oregonia, Ohio. She worked as a purchasing agent at Randall/Textron located in Tri-County, Ohio where she remained until she retired. Following retirement, she and her husband returned "home" to Lincoln County where they began the farming operation of Truview Farm. Betty raised beef cattle and was recognized as a Master Cattleman in 2004, becoming one of the first women to be given the award.

Betty loved the outdoors especially caring for her animals-cattle, horses, cats, dogs, and chickens. While living in Ohio, she and Jack trained and showed award-winning Tennessee Walking Horses. Together she and Jack enjoyed trail riding. Betty enjoyed gardening-flowers as well as fruit and vegetable gardening. Betty and Jack enjoyed travel and had visited almost every state.

Church was important to Betty, she believed in being an active member serving her church and community in every way she could. Following her return to Lincoln County, she became a member of Stanford Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by their only child, Louie (Carrie) McCall of Lebanon, Ohio. Also, surviving are four grandchildren: Jessica McCall of Nashville, TN; Jamison, Joshua and Jack L. McCall III of Lebanon, Ohio and three step-grandchildren: Jacob, Brent, and Jessica Ufkes of Lebanon, Ohio. One sister, Mary Rose (Charles) Brummett of Crab Orchard; one brother Jim (Rosalie) Calloway of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at Stanford Baptist Church on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of Life Ceremony at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to Stanford Baptist Church.
